The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly has officially confirmed Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah as its new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). Nominated by President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, she secured the mandatory two-thirds majority vote from the Assembly Members in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana. The newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive expressed her appreciation for the overwhelming support and pledged to work collaboratively to advance development across the municipality.

The secret ballot exercise allowed Assembly Members to vote on the nomination of Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, who was put forward by President H.E. John Dramani Mahama. The transparent process, which required a strict two-thirds majority of votes cast to approve the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), was conducted under close supervision to ensure compliance with local government regulations.

The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly successfully hosted the 2024 National Farmers’ Day at Ofoase on December 6, 2024. The celebration honoured dozens of local farmers for their contributions to food security, with the Overall Municipal Best Farmer receiving a motorized tricycle and other essential farming equipment. The Asante Akim South Municipal Health Directorate and ORBIS International have held a free mass eye screening to prevent avoidable blindness. Residents received tests for conditions like glaucoma and cataracts, with complex cases referred for specialized treatment. The initiative, which targeted hundreds of community members including farmers and students, aimed to reduce the cost of eye care and promote early detection of visual impairments to improve the overall quality of life in the municipality.
