The General Assembly of the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly has overwhelmingly confirmed Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). Her confirmation follows her nomination to the post by the President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. The high-stakes confirmation election, which took place at the Assembly Hall in Juaso, was conducted and supervised by officials from the Electoral Commission of Ghana. In line with the local government structure, the voting process was open exclusively to the Assembly Members, who cast their secret ballots to either confirm or reject the President's nominee. To secure the position, the nominee required at least a two-thirds majority vote from the Assembly Members present. Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah comfortably cleared this legal threshold, securing strong bipartisan support from the house. The atmosphere in the hall turned jubilant as the Electoral Commission declared the official results, cementing her mandate to lead the municipality's development agenda. In her acceptance speech, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive expressed her profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the trust reposed in her. She also thanked the Assembly Members for their overwhelming endorsement, promising to run an open-door administration. Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah pledged to work closely with all stakeholders, including traditional authorities and community leaders, to drive developmental projects, improve social services, and boost the local economy of Asante Akim South.
