ASANTE AKIM SOUTH HEALTH DIRECTORATE OBSERVES NATIONAL COVID-19 VACCINATION DAYS

The Asante Akim South Municipal Health Directorate has successfully concluded a week-long immunization drive as part of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Days. Held from July 3rd to 7th, 2024, the exercise operated under the theme “Protect Yourself, Protect Your Family, Get Vaccinated Against COVID-19 Now.” The initiative is a key component of the nationwide campaign by the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health to bolster vaccination coverage and sustain the progress made in managing the pandemic. To ensure maximum reach, health workers and volunteers utilized a mix of fixed posts, community outreach points, and house-to-house strategies, targeting schools, churches, and marketplaces across the municipality. The Municipal Health Director emphasized that vaccination remains the most effective defence against severe illness. During the exercise, priority was given to high-risk groups, including the elderly, pregnant women, and frontline workers. While the team encountered some lingering myths and misconceptions, proactive community engagement significantly improved public acceptance and participation. The Directorate expressed its gratitude to the residents for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health. Residents are encouraged to continue practicing preventive measures to ensure the long-term safety of the municipality.
