The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly successfully hosted the 2024 National Farmers’ Day at Ofoase on December 6, 2024. The celebration honoured dozens of local farmers for their contributions to food security, with the Overall Municipal Best Farmer receiving a motorized tricycle and other essential farming equipment. The event highlighted the importance of climate-smart agriculture and reaffirmed the Assembly's dedication to supporting the local farming community through modern inputs and technical guidance.

The Asante Akim South Municipal Health Directorate and ORBIS International have held a free mass eye screening to prevent avoidable blindness. Residents received tests for conditions like glaucoma and cataracts, with complex cases referred for specialized treatment. The initiative, which targeted hundreds of community members including farmers and students, aimed to reduce the cost of eye care and promote early detection of visual impairments to improve the overall quality of life in the municipality.

The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly has graduated 232 apprentices under the BizBox programme and provided them with start-up kits. The ceremony, held on October 23, 2024, was attended by key dignitaries and aimed at promoting skills development and reducing youth unemployment. The graduates received equipment in various trades, including dressmaking, hairdressing, electricals, and carpentry, to help them establish their own businesses.

The Department of Social Welfare of the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly have completed a monitoring exercise for Disability Fund beneficiaries. The visit aimed to ensure that support provided to PWDs is being used effectively to foster self-reliance and economic growth. Beneficiaries welcomed the guidance provided by the monitoring team, and the Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to regular oversight to ensure the fund’s long-term impact.

The Asante Akim South NHIS office held a successful community outreach at Atiemo Nkwanta on August 8, 2024, to facilitate easy registration and card renewals. The programme aimed to bring healthcare insurance services closer to the people, saving residents the cost of traveling to the district office. Officials used the platform to sensitize the public on the benefits of the scheme, reaffirming the NHIS as a vital tool for affordable healthcare delivery in the municipality.

The Asante Akim South Municipal Health Directorate successfully observed the National COVID-19 Vaccination Days from July 3rd to 7th, 2024. The campaign focused on increasing community protection through house-to-house and outreach vaccinations. Despite minor challenges with misinformation, the exercise saw significant turnout, particularly among vulnerable groups, reinforcing the government’s resolve to prevent future outbreaks and promote public health.
